Baptism & Membership

Baptism

Baptism is an important decision that all believers must consider after they have received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The act of baptism does not contribute to your salvation, for we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8). Rather, it is an act of obedience (Matthew 28:19) and a public declaration of your inner faith (Matthew 10:32).

As Baptist, it is our biblical conviction to practice Believer’s Baptism by Immersion. Therefore, prior to baptism, all candidates will be required to attend our Foundation Course (6 lessons). Generally we will conduct the Baptism during Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. If you are interested to be baptised, please fill up the Baptism Form and return the completed form to the church office latest 2 months before the baptism date.

Membership

Membership in Straits Baptist Community is open to anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and have received water baptism by immersion.

We have two types of memberships:

1) Ordinary Members are those who are 18 years and above, and have fulfilled the necessary conditions. As an ordinary member, you have the privilege of being involved fully in the life and work of the church.

2) Junior Membership is open to members’ children below 18 years old and fulfilled all other conditions. As Junior Member, you are able to be involved in all the life and work of the church except in the  congregational decision making process. Upon reaching 18 years old, your membership will automatically be converted to Ordinary Member.

All applicants for church membership, as part of the requirements, are required to attend the Foundation course. If you are interested to be a member of the church, please download the membership form and return the completed form to the church. The church administration will get in touch with you to arrange for you to attend the Foundation Course and membership interview.
